Fort George, Ardersier, Wedding Photography – Kirsty & William

My first blog post for a very long time and what a great start to the new year with a small stylish wedding at this new “to me” venue that is Fort George.

This was a fairly short notice affair (as far as my bookings normally go) as it was only 4 weeks prior that Kirsty, the bride, first enquired if I was available to cover her and William’s “Shotgun” wedding at this mighty 18th Century Fortress which lies just north-east of Inverness. Arriving early, I took the opportunity to have a good recce and capture a few images, taking advantage of some great winter light and clouds before heading over to the museum where William, the groom and guests were given a short tour prior to being bused the relatively short journey to the regimental chapel for the ceremony.

The ceremony was conducted by Reverend Ivan Warwick who I have had the pleasure of knowing for some years now and who is also brother-in-law to William. Ivan had recommended not only me (thanks Ivan!) but also the venue to Kirsty and William as this was a familiar location to him given that he was stationed here at Fort George as chaplin in the 80’s.

After the ceremony, I knew I was going to have to work fast to get some shots of Kirsty and William before the freezing wind blowing in from the Moray Firth started to pick up. Although William, being a farmer was used to braving the elements, we however were a little more concerned for Kirsty who is 7 months pregnant. I then whisked them off on a quick whistle stop tour which I managed to keep to only just over ten minutes stopping at various locations that I had previously recced. Luckily for me Kirsty took this in her stride and even managed to keep smiling throughout.

We then headed back to the Museum for some group shots while guests enjoyed champagne and canapés before they all dined with style in the grand Blue Hackle Rooms which was catered by Mike Crook – Good Highland Food.

I wish Kirsty and William a wonderful long and happy marriage, it was a pleasure to document their wedding day.

Some kind words sent by Kirsty after viewing her images for the first time.
